Privacy Policy

Trust and Obey with Chuck Frank is a 501(c)(3) ministry. This page explains what we collect when you use trustandobeywithchuckfrank.com, why we collect it, who else touches it, and how to get it removed. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

The short version

  • You can read, watch and listen to everything here without giving us anything.
  • We only hold personal information you choose to hand us: your email if you subscribe, your message if you write to us, your phone number if you join Text God, your details if you give.
  • We do not sell your information, and we do not rent or trade it.
  • You can leave at any time, and you can ask us to delete what we hold.

Who we are

What we collect, and why

The Sunday letter

If you subscribe, we collect your email address so we can send you the weekly parable, news from the studio, and a word for the road. Your email is stored with Mailchimp (Intuit Mailchimp), which sends the letter on our behalf and records ordinary delivery information such as whether an email was opened or a link was clicked. Every letter carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list.

Prayer requests and anything else you write to us

If you send a prayer request or use a contact form, we collect what you type, along with your name and email if you provide them. Form submissions are handled by Gravity Forms and stored on our website, and email is delivered through Gravity SMTP.

Prayer requests are read by Chuck and by the small number of people who help him. They are held in confidence. We do not publish them, we do not share them, and we do not add you to any list because you sent one. If you want a request deleted after it has been prayed over, write to us and we will remove it.

Text God

If you join Text God, we collect the phone number you text from so we can reply with prayer and Scripture. Messages are sent through Mailchimp, which handles our SMS as well as our email, and are delivered by your mobile carrier. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to leave, or HELP for help. Leaving removes your number from the service.

Giving

Donations are processed by Anedot. Your payment details go to Anedot directly and we never see or store your card or bank numbers. Anedot passes us the information we need to thank you, issue a receipt, and keep the records a 501(c)(3) is required to keep.

Simply visiting the site

Our web host keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses and browser information, which help keep the site available and secure. We also use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand which teachings people find useful, in aggregate. This tells us that a page was read; it does not tell us who you are, and we do not try to identify individual visitors.

Cookies and similar technology

A cookie is a small file a website leaves in your browser. We use them sparingly:

  • Necessary: cookies that make the site work, such as remembering a form you have started or keeping you logged in if you have an account here.
  • Analytics: cookies set by Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, described above.
  • Embedded content: YouTube may set cookies when you play a video, described below.
  • Advertising: cookies set by Meta’s Pixel, described below, only where you allow it.

Where consent is required, you will be asked before non-essential cookies are set, and you can change your mind at any time from the cookie settings on the site. Your browser also lets you block or delete cookies entirely, though some parts of the site may then behave oddly.

Embedded content from other websites

Teachings on this site are hosted on YouTube. Video thumbnails load from YouTube, and when you press play, YouTube receives your request and may set its own cookies and collect data as if you had visited YouTube directly. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode where we can, which delays that until you actually choose to play something.

We also load typefaces from Google Fonts so the site reads the way it was designed. Requesting a font discloses your IP address to Google.

We use the Meta Pixel and Meta’s Conversions API so that, if you allow it, we can see how people who find Trust and Obey on Facebook or Instagram use the site, and reach them there with our content. Meta receives limited information, such as the pages you visit and whether you subscribed. You can decline this at any time from the cookie settings.

Anything else you click through to, including social platforms linked in our footer, is governed by that platform's own privacy policy, not ours.

Who your information is shared with

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with the services that make the ministry work:

  • Mailchimp, to send the Sunday letter and, with your mobile carrier, the Text God messages.
  • Anedot, to process donations.
  • Google, for Analytics, Tag Manager and Google Fonts.
  • YouTube, for the teachings themselves.
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram), for the Pixel and Conversions API, only where you allow it.
  • Our web host, which stores the site and its database.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of someone who has written to us.

How long we keep it

  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe, or until you ask us to delete you.
  • Prayer requests and messages: kept while they are useful to us in praying for and replying to you, and deleted on request.
  • Text God: while you are subscribed, and a short period afterwards.
  • Giving records: as long as charitable and tax law requires us to keep them.
  • Analytics and server logs: a limited retention period, in aggregate.

Your choices and your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can unsubscribe from the letter at any time, and reply STOP to leave Text God at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA, including the right to a copy of your information and the right to object to certain uses.

Children

This site is written for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.

Keeping your information safe

The site runs over an encrypted connection, and access to the systems that hold your information is limited to the people who need it. No website can promise perfect security, but we take it seriously, and we keep what we collect to a minimum precisely so there is less to lose.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will say so in the Sunday letter.
